Information

for authors and speakers

Thank you for participating in the fourth annual Montana Book Festival!

This year we have over 140 speakers participating in 60 different events in 15 different venues over the course of four days in downtown Missoula, Montana. Thank you for patience while our small team navigates these perilous waters!

As a participating author, you might be asking, “What now?” Good question!

Decide which days you’ll be in town and make a hotel reservation. We are sorry to say that our funding is limited and we were unable to cover many hotel accommodations this year. We recommend the Holiday Inn, Airbnb, or The DoubleTree. You can find more information in our FAQ page on this website.

Check out the festival schedule on Sched. As an author, please set up your personal account. While we already created minimal profiles for each author, you have probably noticed that they are incomplete. You may send your bio and picture to us and wait while we get volunteers to input that information, OR you can sign in to Sched yourself, create your profile and RSVP to Montana Book Festival events.

Here’s the good part: If you create a profile and we already made one, we can then MERGE those two profiles via Sched. That way, there aren’t duplicate profiles and we can use the information that you uploaded to your own profile.

You may also be asking, “Who’s selling my books?” Another good question. Here is the breakdown, by venue, of which local bookseller is selling your books. These books will be sold at the venue.

We know that it’s a little confusing, since there are so many venues, only two bookstores, AND the book fair at the Florence on Saturday. Books will be sold by the local bookstores at each venue during each event. The book fair at the Florence will have exhibitors who purchased a table. The local booksellers will not be selling books there. In some ways the centralized bookstore done in the past was great, in other ways it was not.

Your booksellers should be able to get your books and order them in time for the festival. If you are at multiple venues, you may be covered by two separate booksellers.

Getting to the festival:

When you arrive in Missoula, please check in at Shakespeare&Co. to get your festival kit. These are minimal, but include a tote bag and your festival pin (which will get you lots of great discounts around town!)

If you look at the schedule and realize that you are only involved in one event, please understand that with this many participants and only four days, that is the case for most of those involved. We invite you to come to as many events as you can fit into your day and simply enjoy the festival and the wonderful city of Missoula when you aren’t participating in your event(s)!

If you have more questions, please refer to our FAQ page also on this website.
