THE INTERNATIONALLY OBSERVED "INFINITE SUMMER" PROJECT Began at SHAKESPEARE & CO. IN MISSOULA.
14 weeks of David Foster Wallace's Infinite Jest
-- 75 pages a week --
and a fully judgment free reading group with many, many endnotes!
Thanks to everyone who joined Infinite Summer! In addition to the text, last week we talked about some of Wallace's other writing and some of themes he may be exploring in Infinite Jest. Many of our readers familiar with Wallace suggested two outside reads which have informed their understanding of Infinite Jest. None of the extra reading we post is required and I wouldn't think of it like homework, but it can be super helpful!
One interesting essay by Wallace is E Unibus Pluram: Television and U.S. Fiction, which can be found here.
The other is an interview in the Review of Contemporary Fiction between Larry McCaffery and Wallace, which can be found here.
Good luck with your reading and check back soon for a brief summary of what we discussed at week two's meeting!
