Multitudes is an hour and ten minute long, original one-man play about the Father of American Poetry, Walt Whitman. This is the only ticketed event for Montana Book Festival 2018. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the door.

The play was written by Kim and Valerie Nuzzo and has been performed throughout Colorado in theaters, at literary events and educational institutions; it is a featured event this July at Writing the Rockies Conference at Western Colorado University in Gunnison, Colorado. The play ran for one week at the International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland in August 2017. It addresses death, slavery, sexuality, the Civil War and Whitman’s poetic vision of democratic ideals.

”I have seen Kim Nuzzo perform Multitudes twice: once at the Lithic Bookstore in Fruita, CO, and then once, at my invitation, at the conference I direct, Writing the Rockies, on the Campus of Western State Colorado University, in Gunnison. Both times, I was completely captured by the deft synthesis of dramatic energy and carefully researched illumination of the Whitman's work and life. This play, which was written by Valerie and Kim Nuzzo, deserves to stand alongside the very best one-person shows of its kind, even including Luce's The Belle of Amherst. It will delight any audience who knows anything about Whitman, and instruct and inspire even those who know Whitman deeply. It is a superb play that deserves an extended run, which I hope it receives soon.”
